The Adventure Starts Here

Ardross Castle - Amat Lodge

Strath Rusdale

The track is easily rideable and climbs gently through forest following a stream to where the forest ends. Here some large boulders have been placed across the track to stop vehicles from passing. This obstruction neccesitated taking our bags of and carrying them over (see photo below). For the next quarter of a mile the track has become overgrown, although it's still rideable.

A picturesque valley leading up to the start of the track.

From here the track is dead straight for about a mile (see photo below) climbing upto a small lock and the remains of an old lodge. Possibly a good place to camp here. The track then decends to some old iron gates before climbing to a 437m spot hight. The track now descends quite steeply into Glen Calvie and onto Glencalvie Lodge.

The track goes straight through Glencalvie Lodge and becomes surfaced. Riding down to Amat Lodge we noticed several 'PRIVATE' signs when looking back along the road. Don't be put off if attempting the crossing from this end.
