A jaunt via Roych Clough
Don't forget to let the ride leader know you're coming! Add your status at the foot of the eventI know it’s taken me a while since the AGM and my taking over the NPeaks & SPennines Area Secs role. Sorry but several weeks away and family commitments have taken precedence.
I would love to have others in the group organising some rides. In much the same way that the NYM group do. It would lead to a stronger more various group, I think.
Anyway my inaugural ride will be :- on Thursday 23rd July meeting at 10.00 AM for a 1015 AM departure.
Approx 24 miles and about 3000 ft of ascent.
Starting from Tesco Store, as you run into Whaley Bridge from the North.

Park at the far end of the carpark away from the store front. This is where we will be riding from, on the track under Buxworth Canal then up and onto the same canal towpath. Most of the route is rideable with care except possibly the descent into Royce Clough and probably the climb out of the same.
Perhaps bring a small snack and drink etc plus your waterproofs, it will rain eventually.
My planned lunch stop will be at The Devonshire Arms in Peak Forest Village. Either in the pub or at the honesty shack in the car park. This was very well stocked last time I called and has a card reader (with instructions) for payment.
I will possibly add a GPX of the route.
Please remember that you are responsible for your own riding, the safety of yourself and others that your actions may affect. Please be sure that your bike is road, and non-road, worthy and that you have a good idea of how to fix the common problems. Although others (I hope) will be on hand to help.
Please do register to advise me that you are coming. It is not usually a problem of too many turning up !
Last time I did this as an RSF advertised ride, I was ‘Billy No Mates’ It was a good ride but could have been better !
