Sunday 3rd. December 2017
Our annual pre Christmas ride and lunch started from a new venue- The Crown Inn, Wentnor. The 16 of us (including two new members) set out towards the Stiperstones just west of the Long Mynd. Soon tackling a grass track on Adstone Hill we gained tarmac at Coates Farm where a liberal coating of mud disguised the surface on the descent to Bridges. The next challenge was the steep climb past Squilver and almost to the top of the Stiperstones ridge. After regrouping at the car park a fairly level bridleway to The Hollies was taken then more mud was encountered through the farmyard. The drop back to Bridges on part of the Shropshire way was enjoyed by all. After passing the YH the steady climb on to the Long Mynd began. Leaving the road just after the cattle grid above Ratlinghope we turned left up a bridleway taking us onto the heather covered shoulder of the Mynd. The sun was out and looking back it was showing up Corndon and other distant hills to very good effect. We headed down via Medlicott to reach The Crown on time for our much needed lunch.
