SH Group
The eight partakers in this ride were all members of the RSF. Unfortunately no new faces to join the ride.
SH 1Starting our ride from the top entrance into Shibden Hall which is a beautiful large thirteenth century house and now one of the Museums in the Calder Valley.  We turn left over Godley Bridge to Claremont Road. A short up hill pull before turning left, onto High Sunderland Lane, a gentle climb takes us over fields to a steep decent into Bradford Old Road, here we climbed up towards the Ski Slope above Ploughcroft. After resting here a while to take in the view over Halifax, and to get our breath back, we turn down the cobbled Lee Lane and only yards down here take the bridle way on Hag Lane back in a loop towards High Sunderland Lane. Halfway along here we find one of our eight riders is not with us. Rob turns back to try to find the missing link with out much success, eventually ringing up to
find out where the member was. Mick had missed our turning onto Hag Lane and he had plummeted down the cobbled road into Shibden Valley and was waiting for us at Shibden Mill Inn. We carried on down Turner Lane into Jerwood Hill Road, from here onto Horley Green Lane bridleway down into the valley to meet up with Mick. Leaving the valley along Black Hill we soon turn into Simm Carr Road. The long winding road peters out and we have a steep climb onto the bridle way which comes out into Addersgate Road. We ride on Paddock Road to Blake Hill End and turn into Cave Hill. The bridle way we are on leads us in a loop crossing Teal Lane and bringing us out by a scrap yard. SH CattleCarefully dog legging across the A644 into Cross Lane following the Bridge Lane bridle way across Pepper Hill and joining South Lane into Shelf centre. Turning into Brow Lane and riding into Norwood Green. Following all the way down Shutts Lane into Coley Hall Road, dropping us back onto the A644 were again we navigate 200 yards of main road before turning down Wood Lane into a very nice bridle way, complete with Highland Cattle and a stream to cross, once we had negotiated these obstacles we came out onto the A58 the busy main road into Halifax via Stump Cross. Once through the traffic lights a sharp left turn leads us down to the bottom entrance to Shibden Hall for Lunch. Lunch was served very quickly as Rob had booked us in before the ride began. After lunch some riders had to return home, we rode up through the woods of Shibden Park coming out just below the Hall. When we reached the Hall we thought we would like to see the façade, here we found out it was Heritage Week End and the Hall was open free of charge.

Three of us decided we would like to go in and take advantage of this free offer. The rest made there way back to the car park for their journey home. Once again we were blessed with lovely weather for September and good company.
