After a quick coffee in the Clapham Reading Rooms five of us set off to meet Roger & Rob at the cafe in Feizor. Needless to say both of them were just finishing their essential pre-ride bacon butties.
The climb up past Feizor Wood warmed our legs up nicely before the main climb of the day up from Helwith Bridge to Sannat Hill Farm (Average 9% with maximum17% on loose rocks on gravel). The climb and the subsequent drag up the road were, however, well worth it for the fabulous 2 mile descent back to Helwith Bridge from Churn Milk Hole. One of the best descents I've ever done I think. Many thanks to Caroline who planned the route and suggested doing it this way round, I'm sorry you couldn't make the ride.
Lunch at the Pen-y-Ghent cafe refreshed us for the climb up to the spectacular Moughton Scar was the followed by the lovely descent down Crummack Dale to Austwick. We lost Roger & Rob on the way down as they peeled off to Wharfe for a pint before going back to their cars.
All in all a fabulous days ride in glorious sunshine with great company. many thanks to those who turned up and commiserations to those who couldn't make it.
