Well this is a ride I do pretty much every weekend. It's only short about 15miles it has no hills and the interaction with cars is minimal. There's also a couple of good places to get coffee. It has other advantages like I can start and finish from home, no need for car and bike rack and it aids my recuperation from a knee op (excuse to be lazy).
So the ride itself firstly goes to Buckshaw Village, with all the leaves missing the cycle track looks pretty barren but if you know where to look you can find greenery.
Then its on to Worden Park, there's a good cycle route through here, a great cafe but a lot of dog walkers
I follow the River Yarrow for a bit apparently its scenic.
Its time for coffee now, I tend to use Annies cafe as the staff are helpful and the food good.
Then I follow the cycle path again although the council has "improved" it, there used to be an off grid hippie commune here but it's been bulldozed away for I suspect houses. This actually passes through the site of Leyland Motors (remember them)
After that through to Cuerden Vally park, again its been "improved" but there are still some interesting bits.
And finally home via Buckshaw and Madrid (The Bernabeu is the name of Real Madrids Stadium)
So not really rough stuff, no hills. no single track but a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours - it must be OK as I do it pretty much every weekend if the weather is OK.
