RSF - The Off Road Cycling Club

The Adventure Starts Here

Hills & headwinds. Not much more to say about today's cycling conditions. Just 5 of us today, but then it was super gusty so what nutters would be out cycling hilltops on a day such as this?! At least we had wind assist up some steep hills (every time I do this route its blowing a hoolie).

High points - Sunnyhurst up towards Jubilee Tower (but not quite all the way to it), behind Bold Venture Park, Whitehall, Blacksnape, Belthorn. Highlights - that amazing descent to Mangol's Farm - a dead straight bridleway (alas its intersected by a fast busy road), India Mill - my fav mill chimney, the bridleway above Darwen that follows the valley past grand houses & unexpected hamlets, Waterside's pretty riverside track, and finally going in The Black Dog which is Belthorn's community run pub and worth a visit.

We could have done without that slog back on the canal into the wind, but Oswaldtwistle to Blackburn is lacking nice routes other than the winding towpath that certainly adds a good few miles from those the crow flies.
