The North Sussex Group
About Us
Formed in late October 2017 to provide rides in the North Sussex and Southern Surrey local to the area of Crawley, Horsham, Horley, and Redhill, Our rides mainly cover a distance of 25 to 35 miles, at an average speed of 8mph. During most of the year, we ride a mix of quiet small backroads, and off-road using ridable cart roads, bridleways, and byways with a good distance being off-road whilst a good percentage of the rides are reasonable flat the Wealden area does have some heart-pumping, short, sharp hills to add interest to the ride. After heavy rain when the Wealden Clay becomes an unrideable sticky mess, during those times our rides stay mainly to quiet backroads.
What We Do
Our rides start at or near a Railway station often at a cafe; this allows those members who do not have their own transport access to the start of the ride. Depending on the area and the ride; we take a lunch break at a pub or café however there is no reason why you cannot provide your own packed lunch if you so wish. We cater for riders of all abilities and ages, the low average speed of our rides allows us to stop and admire and enjoy our superb Southern countryside.
The RSF North Sussex Section holds two meetings a month, on the second Tuesday and third Saturday along with other rides which can be arranged at other times. We are currently running 3 types of ride:
1. Our Normal leader-led ride.
2. Away-A-Day rides, which are held occasionally in an area away from a normal locality.
3. A find your own route to a lunch stop, then return home by your own route.
All rides are posted in the events section of this website also on the RSF Facebook page. It is recommended that you check both the RSF website events page and Facebook page to check for any changes or cancellations to the ride.
Some rides require those attending to inform the ride leader, by using the facility on the event page or by using the contact information also shown on the event page.
We look forward to seeing you soon........Bob Givens
