Easter Meet Routes 2022 Cleverland Way and Hawnby | ||||||||||||||||||||
Starting at the North York Moors Visitors Centre at the top of Sutton Bank the route follows the Cleveland Way by bridleway across mainly open moorland with magnificent views across the Vale of York to the Pennines beyond. Climbing steadily on easy gradients to Black Hambleton one of the highest point on the North York Moors before a steep drop to Square Corner then turning eastwards to follow minor road to Hawnby where there is an Inn and Tearooms; then a steep climb up Hawnby Bank and minor road before joining a waymarked cycle route back to Sutton Bank.
The outward leg to Black Hambleton has no steep climbs and for those who prefer a shorter and less hilly route the alternative is to retrace the route from Black Hambleton to the way marked cycle route to Sutton Bank the view on the return offer a different perspective than the outward. |
