This is a very tough round trip, starting at the campsite of Giesse in south-east Switzerland, heading east across the Albrun Pass into Italy, then south along Lago di Devero and back into Switzerland along the so called Mineralienroute (Mineral Way). Just over 21 miles (27 if taking all sorts of excursions). Apart from a couple of miles near Giesse most of the route is along paths and single tracks, not rideable in some places but taking the bike on your shoulders should not be a problem for the MTB diehards. Very steep climbs and decent at places, take elbow and knee protectors with you, especially for the rocky parts. An article about this trip, TO THE ALBRUN PASS: UNCOUPLING THE MIND, will be published in one of the 2017 Rough-Stuff Journals. |
