Thatcham to Honey Street, back by train via Pewsey

This 36 mile cycling trip will take you to & through a characteristically southern England landscape. It all starts at the corner of the Bath Road (A4) and Pound Lane in Thatcham, leading to Lower Way, crossing this and so along Prince Hold Road taking you to Thatcham Nature Reserve with its reed beds and so to the Kennet & Avon Canal. Cross the canal a 100 yards or so to the west of Bulls Lock and skirt Newbury/Greenham to the south. Heading west now and past the A34 it's on to Inkpen (common) and Ham along quiet roads. North of Wilton the Kennet & Avon Canal can be followed for a while until you'll have to turn north crossing the A346 and later turning south to Pewsey. From here turn north again and join the canal at the junction with the Alton Road for a leisurely ride along the water until you reach the Barge Inn. Unfortunately the inn is now closed but locals are trying to save it, see http://www.thebargehoneystreet.co.uk/. Depending on your planning: easiest way back is by train via Pewsey, there are a number of pubs around here.
