A rough road sometimes to steep and too rough too ride follows the north bank of the Rivo delle Stue to Malgo Cazzorga (1845m) From here a very steep and loose narrow path (difficult to follow) climbs up to an ancient road just above the tree line.

This road (not rideable) continues up to the coll. You pass the Lago Delle Stellune (picture below - a good place to camp). I strongly advise you take two days over this route unless travelling very light.

The low point in the photo above is the col. Col signpost is on the right.

There is a boulder field on the col and over the other side. A steep hard to follow path drops down to the bottom of the valley where it climbs up to a lower col (Pso Val Cion 2076m) from here a fairly level sometimes rideable path continues to Malga Val Cion 1973m.

The route is numbered 318 throughout.

From here a narrow gravel surfaced forestry road descends quite steeply for about 10km to the Refuge Refavaie, a very welcome site as we had completed this route in 12 hrs from Ponte delle Stue.
